Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

Dr. Jennifer Butterfield is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has relocated to the Roaring Fork Valley to provide reconstructive services to the Calaway•Young Cancer Center, to help build a renowned Breast Cancer Center, and to provide cosmetic surgery services to patients in Aspen, Glenwood Springs, and surrounding areas. She recently relocated from Cincinnati, Ohio where she was seen as a progressive and leading plastic surgeon and has repeatedly been voted “Top Doc” in plastic and reconstructive surgery by her peers (Cincinnati Magazine). As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Butterfield takes great pride in her surgical outcomes and views her work as the “surgical art” of possibilities.

Dr. Butterfield received a Bachelor of Science degree at Duke University. During this time, she also studied Fine Art and initially considered a career as a medical artist. She received her Doctorate of Medicine in 1996 from the Medical College of Ohio, finishing in the top 10% of her class. For this achievement, she received the high honor of election into the medical honors society, Alpha Omega Alpha. She attended the University of Cincinnati for her integrated residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery, completing 3 years of general surgery training and 3 years of plastic surgery training. It was during this training that she finally was able to unite her love of science and art and apply it to the field of aesthetic surgery.

Dr. Butterfield has pursued additional training in cosmetic surgery and has completed an aesthetic fellowship with Drs. Baker and Stuzin of the prestigious Plastic Surgery Associates of Miami, Florida. She has operated with Drs. Hester and Nahai, nationally recognized experts in midface lifting and “vertical scar” breast reductions. She has also studied with Dr. Oscar Ramirez, another nationally recognized expert in endoscopic midface rejuvenation. She stays on the cutting edge by attending national symposia.

Dr. Butterfield previously worked at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center as an Assistant Professor of Surgery, in the Division of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery. She has completed research and has been published in a number of areas, including chemical peels, burn scar reconstruction, and breast reconstruction. She is an active member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
